Based in the Statistics, the post holder will contribute to the intellectual life of the School through conducting and publishing outstanding quality research, engaging in high quality teaching as instructed by the Head of Department and participating in the School and wider Department activities.

Applications for this new post are invited from outstanding candidates in the field of statistics and probability. Successful candidates will join an established and successful department and contribute to its research and teaching in probability, finance and insurance. The post is tenable from 1st September 2024.

You will have expertise and research interests in applications of probability to finance and insurance, preferably with a focus on their computational and empirical aspects. You will have an established track record or trajectory of research at a level of international excellence and proven ability, as evidenced by existing publications, or potential to publish in top journals. You will also have a clear, well developed and viable strategy for future outstanding research that has the potential to result in world-leading publications.

You must have a completed (or nearly completed) PhD in statistics, mathematics or other related area by the post start date. You will maintain an active research programme and contribute to the general work of the Department, including teaching courses in statistics, probability, actuarial science, finance and insurance at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

We welcome applications from candidates who are keen to collaborate with colleagues with complementary research interests both from within the Department and from other departments in the School. You will maintain an active research programme and contribute to the general work of the department, including teaching of a range of courses on the BSc Actuarial Science and MSc Quantitative Methods in Risk Management programmes, both run by the Department of Statistics.
