The School of Mathematics is committed to significantly expand its research and education programmes in Statistics and Data Science. The successful candidates will be expected to make significant contribution to these programmes, by conducting high-quality research in related areas and developing and delivering undergraduate and postgraduate education in Statistics or Data Science. In addition, the successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the school through management/leadership, and enterprise activities, as appropriate.
The minimum qualification is a PhD, or one near to completion, (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Statistics or a related area. Candidates are expected to have or clearly be developing an internationally recognized research record, and a solid commitment to teaching, mentoring and service. We welcome applicants in any areas of Statistics and Data Science, in particular but not limited to Mathematical Statistics, Computational Statistics, Medical Statistics, Statistical and Machine Learning, Optimization and AI for Science (e.g., Scientific Machine Learning and Data-driven Modelling). Applicants for the Associate Professor posts are typically expected to have a track-record of successful external research funding.
