The Biostatistician will join the LIH’s Competence Center for Methodology and Statistics (CCMS).Within the clinical research hub of the Department of Population Health, the CCMS provides methodological support in statistical planning and analysis and data handling for various laboratories and research groups as well as offering training in statistics and support in writing papers.

To support the team and the new translational research center we are looking for a Biostatistician who will mainly be responsible for providing support in the design and analysis of clinical trials including early phase trials

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Give advice on the design of studies on research projects led by Luxembourg Institute of Health researchers.
  • Develop the statistical analysis plans for such projects and studies
  • Calculate the necessary sample size for projects suggested by researchers.
  • Check the quality of the data communicated by researchers for projects to which the statistician is attached.
  • Carry out the statistical analysis report and discuss it with researchers.
  • Participate in the drafting of publications, the preparation of lectures related to the work carried out
  • Participate in the drafting of standard operating procedures for the Competence Centre in Methodology and Statistics.
  • Understand and respond to the statistical needs of collaborators and clients working in the life sciences.

KEY SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD / Master with statistics, biostatistics or epidemiological methods (or similar qualification).
  • Previous professional experience of at least 5 years in a similar position.
  • Experience in the design of clinical trials is expected
  • Experience in a clinical research centre is an asset.
  • Experience in the design of early phase trials is an asset
  • Good communicational skills, autonomy, responsibility, good negotiating abilities, ability to work in a team, good listening skills, flexibility
  • IT skills: SAS and R, Microsoft Office.
  • Language skills: French and English (fluent command).
