The Clinical Epidemiology Unit at the Institute for Epidemiology and Social Medicine of the University of Münster offers a position, initially limited to 2 years, of a

The Institute is involved in a variety of population-based, registry-based and clinical epidemiological studies; these studies offer a huge and diverse resource for research projects. The research of the Institute focuses on neurological and psychiatric diseases, diseases of the cardiovascular system and infectious diseases. The Clinical Epidemiology Unit uses and develops modern statistical and mathematical methods for the analysis of primary and secondary data. A particular focus of the Unit is the assessment of the diagnostic and prognostic accuracy of biomarkers for complex diseases (often in the context of omics data), and the development of statistical methods used for this assessment.

The position

  • Will lead third-party funded projects in the field of diagnostic and prognostic studies (with a focus on neurological and psychiatric diseases)
  • Will be responsible for planning and conducting simulation studies comparing the statistical properties of proposed data analysis tools in the context of high-dimensional biomarkers
  • Will add key evidence to important and up-to-date research topics
    Is planned to result in publications in high-quality peer-reviewed international journals

What we expect:

  • Master’s degree (and preferably PhD) e.g. in Biostatistics, Epidemiology or Mathematics
  • Advanced knowledge in statistical and epidemiological methods
  • Experience in statistical programming (e.g. R, Stata, Python)
  • Analytical and structured way of working, good team and communication skills, as well as a sense of responsibility and quality awareness
  • Excellent English or German language skills
