The School of Mathematics & Statistics is looking for enthusiastic candidates to join the rapidly and substantially growing Statistics & Data Analytics group. The School and the Statistics & Data Analytics group foster a collegiate and supportive environment, encouraging collaborative research within and across disciplines https://www.gla.ac.uk/schools/mathematicsstatistics/.In REF2021, the School was ranked 1st in Scotland and 5th in the UK and for Mathematical Sciences by the Times Higher Education GPA.
This position is a result of strategic investment into our AI3 initiative of Analytics and Inference Innovation for Impact to further enhance and diversify staff interests and expertise within the group, for more information see https://gla.ai. This initiative combines our existing success across research and teaching innovation into a centre of excellence in the areas of statistics, data analytics and applied data science. The Statistics group at Glasgow has expanded significantly in recent years, and has a wide range of research and teaching expertise- from fundamental research at the interface of statistical methodology and data science over areas including applied probability, Bayesian modelling and inference, computational statistics, emulation and uncertainty quantification, extreme value modelling, functional data analysis, machine learning and spatio-temporal modelling- to driving interdisciplinary impact in applications ranging across biostatistics, epidemiology, and health, environmental and ecological sciences, genetics, biology and *omics, imaging and image processing, linguistics, social and urban studies, and forensic sciences.
Applications for these posts are welcome in any areas of statistical methodology, data analytics, data science and teaching innovation that complement or enhance the existing strengths within the School. We are seeking applicants who could contribute related research/scholarship within the School, and to our very successful and expanding online distance learning and on-campus MSc programmes in Statistics and Data Analytics.
The following positions, which are equivalent to US tenure track Assistant Professor (Grade 7/8) and Associate Professor (Grade 9) are available:
