The Oxford Vaccine Group is based within the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Oxford and carries out research of major national and international importance in the field of infection and immunology.
We seek a self-motived Medical Statistician with to work on clinical observational studies and national/international clinical trials of vaccines and infectious diseases. The postholder will provide statistical advice and explanations of statistical issues within a multi-disciplinary team, contribute to the preparation of new clinical research proposals, such as sample size calculation and validation, and contribute to the dissemination of research findings via peer reviewed publications, amongst others.
To succeed in this post you will hold a PhD in statistics/epidemiology or a relevant field, or postgraduate qualifications with substantial relevant experience, have excellent communication skills and a commitment to writing high quality manuscripts which present important scientific findings with clarity. Strong analytical skills, an enquiring and flexible attitude, and an interest in working collaboratively with researchers from different disciplines will also be important components for success. Further, experience of write programs in at least one statistical software such as Stata, SAS, or R and writing up statistical analysis plan (SAP) for clinical trials are required.
