Ofgem is committed to making a positive difference for energy consumers through effective regulation of the market and close working with suppliers to ensure sustainable energy for consumers and businesses in the UK.
Do you have the curiosity to take a deep interest in how the energy landscape is changing? As part of our Retail Monitoring team, you will monitor new developments, identify trends and evaluate how policy and regulation affect the energy market. It's a role that involves engagement with industry stakeholders as well as working closely with colleagues across Ofgem to share relevant market intelligence more widely. So you will be able to learn from others, grow your knowledge quickly and, most importantly, have a visible impact on policy-making and on consumers.
This is a small, collaborative and innovative team where you can expand your knowledge and grow your career. Recently graduated in Economics or in a statistics-related degree, you must have demonstrable analytical and quantitative research skills, supported by practical experience of managing and interpreting complex datasets. Strong attention to detail is important, with the initiative and proactive mindset needed to own problems, find solutions and communicate recommendations clearly. An understanding of the electricity/gas markets, or a similarly regulated sector, would be highly desirable.
Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, which includes:
