Fixed-term contract for 1 year starting 01 September 2022, 0.33 FTE.

To be successful in this role you will have the ability and willingness to teach on quantitative methods, and would contribute or convene the following modules in 2022/23:

• SO243 Practice and Interpretation of Quantitative Methods.
• SO9D4 Researching inequality: race, class and gender in global perspective.

You will also lead seminars on SO130 – Introduction to Social Analytics in Social Inequalities Research.

You will have a willingness to use and develop further e-learning tools and innovative teaching techniques within the classroom to a diverse student body.

JOB PURPOSE

To teach on quantitative methods, and would contribute or convene the following modules in 2022/23:

• SO243 Practice and Interpretation of Quantitative Methods.
• SO9D4 Researching inequality: race, class and gender in global perspective.

Lead seminars on SO130 – Introduction to Social Analytics in Social Inequalities Research.

You will have a willingness to use and develop further e-learning tools and innovative teaching techniques within the classroom to a diverse student body.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching and Learning Support

1. To contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the Department of Sociology.

2. To collaborate with members of the Department of Sociology to enhance and sustain our undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses.

3. To participate in and contribute to research activities in the Department.

4. To give lectures, seminars, tutorials, and other classes as appropriate in support of the required teaching obligations.

5. To develop your own teaching materials, methods, and approaches with guidance from colleagues in the Department.

6. To supervise undergraduate and postgraduate project work, providing advice on study skills and with learning problems.

7. To ensure that student feedback on teaching is sought through questionnaires and other sources and to respond constructively to such feedback.

8. To ensure that teaching meets the standards expected within a research-led University.

9. To undertake academic duties (i.e. setting examination questions, marking and providing constructive feedback, invigilation and pastoral support of students) required to sustain the delivery of high-quality teaching.

10. To support and comply with the University and Departmental teaching quality assurance standards and procedures including the provision of such information as may be required by the Department or the University.
