£32,344 to £50,296

Grade 7 Research Associate £32,344 - £40,927 per annum. Potential to progress to £44,706 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution.

Grade 8 Research Fellow £42,149 - £50,296 per annum. Potential to progress to £56,587 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution.

The School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR) is looking to recruit a statistician experienced in Bayesian statistics with an interest in health technology assessment to join the Health Economic and Decision Science (HEDS) section.

You will mainly work on ScHARR-Technology Assessment Group (ScHARR-TAG) projects, where the work will include the critical appraisal of the statistical methods used in pharmaceutical company submissions to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for reimbursement of new interventions. You will also provide statistical support to multi-disciplinary teams as part of other HEDS research and consultancy projects. Work will include survival extrapolation and evidence synthesis including network meta-analysis and indirect treatment comparisons. You will be encouraged to develop your own methodological research interests that are complementary to those within HEDS and help contribute to Masters level teaching and supervision.

Educated to PhD level (or equivalent experience) in statistics, or a relevant quantitative discipline, you will have an understanding of clinical trials and of meta-analysis. Experience of undertaking Bayesian statistical analyses using appropriate computational software is essential, as it experience of quantitative data analysis in a research environment. You will also possess advanced skills in the use of the R statistical software. The successful applicant will be appointed to either Grade 7 (Research Associate) or Grade 8 (Research Fellow).
