The Investment Association (IA) represents UK investment managers. Our 240 members collectively manage over £6.9 trillion on behalf of customers in the UK and around the world making this the largest industry of its kind in Europe and the second largest worldwide. The Research and Statistics (R&S) team sits at the heart of the organisation helping to provide data and insights about the activities of the industry. These range from statistics on the £1trn retail funds market to research reports on the activities and economic contribution of the industry.
The Investment Association (IA) is seeking to recruit a Market Insight Specialist to support the work of the Research and Statistics (R&S) Team, which currently comprises six people. The role focuses on statistical analysis, retail fund market commentary and presentation of market trends, drawing both on IA and wider industry and macro-economic data. The role also involves a broader contribution to R&S activities and potentially other IA divisions. These activities will include additional development of IA retail market analysis, including customer research.
The successful candidate will ideally have a background (three years minimum) in the fund management industry and/or related data and industry analytics firms. They will have strong numerical and analytical skills, as well as experience in writing and presenting. Although the IA R&S output has a well-established structure, it also needs individuals with a strong sense of initiative and self-direction to help ensure high quality outputs that can evolve over time.
Essential skills / qualifications / competencies

- A strong sense of self-direction
- Educated at least to degree level
- At least three years working in a fund market insight and/or retail investor consumer research role
- Good knowledge of the distribution structure of the UK retail fund market
- Knowledge of the asset management industry
