The School of Business, Economics and Informatics brings together the College’s business-facing activities, teaching around 5000 students in its four departments. The Department of Economics, Mathematics and Statistics brings together research and teaching in Economics, Finance, Mathematics and Statistics in a single department, creating significant interdisciplinary synergies.

We are seeking to recruit a new Senior Lecturer in Statistics. The appointee will be expected to conduct and publish internationally-excellent research, direct our successful MSc Applied Statistics programme, and teach on undergraduate and graduate programmes. You will embrace Birkbeck’s commitment to access and opportunity in higher education in a research-intensive environment through evening teaching and flexible, innovative provision. We are looking to broaden our statistics research and teaching portfolio in a way that will build on, and complement, our existing strengths, and would welcome applicants with any specialization within statistics.

You should be educated to PhD (or equivalent) level in an appropriate specialism and have evidence of your research ability through significant published work and evidence of ability to attract research funding. You should have experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. You will be willing to lead the team running our MSc Applied Statistics.

Salary: Grade 9 of the College’s London Pay Scale which is £54,268 rising to £60,600 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.

This job is full time and permanent. The salary quoted above is inclusive of London allowance. The appointment will be subject to a probationary period of one year.
