Appointment may be made on the Senior Lecturer Salary Scale: €66,054 – €91,281 (Scale B); €64,832-€86,887 (Scale A). In all instances the successful appointment will be at the first point of the scale.

UCC wishes to make two permanent senior lectureship appointments within the School of Mathematical Sciences. These positions will play an important role in the development of the Statistics Department, including supporting its responsibilities for delivery of the core technical syllabus of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and associated programme accreditation.

Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent qualification in Statistics, Biostatistics, Actuarial Science, or closely related Statistical Data Analytic area and have a track record of independent research of international standing. Reporting to the Head of School of Mathematical Sciences, appointees will have relevant teaching and collaborative experience enabling them to provide leadership in development and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Appointees are expected to develop the research profile of the Department of Statistics and to collaborate with colleagues to build external partnerships in order to obtain funding for support of PhD students. Practical commitment to internationalization in teaching and research activities is essential.

George Boole, credited with laying the mathematical foundations for the Information Age, is UCCs most famous scholar and its first Professor of Mathematics.  The School of Mathematical Sciences (, has 25 permanent academic staff FTEs including Chairs in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Statistics. The Department of Statistics has research linkage across campus including Medicine and Health. There is developing academic collaboration with the Department of Computer Science and the INSIGHT Center for Data Analytics ( Future growth in this direction is anticipated.
