Your new role

This exciting role presents you with a unique opportunity to carry out varied analyses, both in-depth and routine, answering key questions on the performance of our road network. You will be responsible for developing metrics and providing analytical assurance to the business. You will work with important stakeholders, including business leaders and the Department for Transport as well as external bodies such as Transport Focus and Royal Mail. A key part of your role will be to develop the analytical capability of the team, so you’ll need to be a great communicator and have current/working knowledge of Operational Research techniques.T

Thisrole will involve regular travel between Birmingham and Manchester.

What you’ll be leading on

  • Analysis into the customer satisfaction, safety and performance of the road network, including delays, lane availability, speed and incidents
  • Understand customer requirements to enable effective analysis and communicating this with impact to aid decision making and managing stakeholders at all levels
  • Developing the analytical capability of the team
  • Undertaking bespoke analytical research projects, developing performance metrics and predictive models

To be successful

  • Numerical degree, or equivalent, in a relevant subject; or relevant work experience
  • Previous experience working in an analytical role, developing analytical models and applying operational research concepts and statistical techniques
  • Excellent communication skills and engaging communication style with the ability to present with impact and develop the capability of others
  • Knowledge of SQL, R, Python or any other data query language and GIS skills
  • Desirable – experience of project management
