We have an exciting opportunity for a Statistician to join our Central Pricing team here at BGLi. The purpose of this role is to generate incremental lifetime value of our portfolio through the delivery and development of pricing models using innovative and cutting-edge modelling approaches.
Our Data and Pricing team provides value in showcasing to the business how to monetise data and analytics; we are a team of 45 BI, Pricing and Data Science analytical professionals working with every corner of our commercial business to gain and share insights into customer behaviour. Our Statisticians are at the heart of our statistical modelling and price optimisation capabilities. You'll be constructively curious, adaptable to a changing pricing landscape and keen to test and develop our market-leading pricing tools to improve our platforms and processes.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- End to end production of pricing models using tailor-made pricing pipeline
- Use R/Python to build predictive statistical models and use Earnix to intelligently optimise customer prices
- Implementation of pricing strategy changes based on performance analysis
- Contribute to research and development opportunities to help innovate and progress current methodologies
- Evaluate and utilise tools and data items created by data science teams
- Work closely with the Commercial Pricing Team to ensure pricing models meet business objectives
- Ensure all activity is compliant with pricing governance and follows established controls
Skills, Experience and Knowledge:
- Highly numerate with a graduate or postgraduate degree in Statistics, Mathematics or another analytical subject
- Experience with using software packages such as R or Python to solve problems
- Curiosity to independently solve problems and positively challenge ideas.
- Able to communicate complicated statistical concepts to an informed but non-technical audience
- Work experience in a statistical and/or insurance pricing environment (advantageous)
- Experience with handling large datasets (advantageous)
- Experience with price optimisation tools (Earnix/Radar) desired but not required (advantageous)
