We are seeking an individual with training and knowledge in statistical design and analysis of experiments for applications in diagnostics and device development. Experience working with SAS/JMP software and strong statistical consulting skills are required. The successful candidate will work in close partnership with laboratory scientists and engineers to develop and implement fit-for-purpose study designs to enable robust decision making and timely delivery of project objectives. The colleague will help develop and standardize experimental design protocols for various types of studies across several projects as well as provide guidance on data collection and retrieval and may need to develop programs to allow individual scientists to generate their own analyses where appropriate.

The colleague may also assist with other clinical and non-clinical projects, as needed, to meet departmental needs. Willingness to understand laboratory methods and device development processes in order to better communicate with and educate scientists regarding statistical design is essential. The successful candidate will assist in the training of scientists in experimental design and related topics.

Our department is highly collaborative, and colleagues are expected to actively participate in group meetings and follow standard departmental procedures to ensure that a common approach is taken to handling clinical and laboratory study data. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, the ability and desire to work with large, complex teams of scientists, and have the ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously. This role requires cross site support and travel will be required, especially initially.

Education:

  • PhD in Statistics (or related field with extensive training in statistical methods) with 1 year of industry experience
  • MS in Statistics (or related field with extensive training in statistical methods) with 3 years of industry experience

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Knowledge of data handling and statistical analysis programming in PC-SAS and JMP
  • Experience with statistical design and analysis of experiments for diagnostic kit/device development and validation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and statistical consulting skills
  • Ability to critically review scientific publications
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple simultaneous projects and significant attention to detail
  • Works well in a team environment and consistently follows standard operational practices

Desirable Skills and Attributes:

  • Direct experience with statistical aspects of diagnostics kit development and validation in addition to a strong understanding of regulatory considerations in the diagnostics space is highly desirable.
