Our research group is focused on the application of machine learning techniques to improve cancer outcomes. Specifically, we employ machine learning techniques on a variety of clinical data streams (diagnostic/pathologic imaging data, EHR data, audio data) to predict cancer outcomes and guide treatment. We also leverage other biostatistical techniques to model cancer outcomes.

The Statistician will provide our research group direct biostatistical, clinical, and data management support related to our on-going research efforts. The primary duties for this position will involve: biostatistical analysis, database curation/management, EHR data collection, research protocol design/implementation. The Statistician will also work directly with laboratory PI to oversee and coordinate trainees within lab. Lastly, the Statistician will work directly with laboratory PI to maintain project timelines.

Essential Duties

1. Performs a variety of duties involving the application of statistical skills to the design of research studies. Works as a member of a research team/study team to provide appropriate statistical input in the design, execution and analysis of studies. 2. Participates in the development of operations and procedures for the collection, editing, verification and management of statistical data. 3. Operates one or more systems of computer hardware and statistical analysis software for the management and analysis of data. Evaluates the statistical methods and procedures used to obtain data to ensure validity, applicability, efficiency, and accuracy. 4. Analyzes and interprets statistical data to identify significant differences in relationships among sources of information. 5. Processes large amounts of data for statistical modeling and graphic analysis, using computers. 6. Investigates, evaluates and prepares reports on applicability, efficiency, and accuracy of statistical methods used in obtaining and evaluation data. 7. Participates in the preparation of written and oral presentations that summarize the analysis of data, interprets the finding and provides conclusions and recommendations. 8. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Master's degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Ability to conduct biostatistical analysis and use electronic medical databases.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Ability to coordinate and maintain laboratory schedule/timelines.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Ability to maintain confidentiality, independently and accurately abstract, create, and maintain a study participant’s research record ensuring all required data is collected, source verified, and entered into databases.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

Required Skill/Ability 5:

Organized and detail oriented with the ability to multi task, and manage a broad variety of duties and shifting priorities in a changing environment.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Experience conducting biostatistical analysis, coordinating, planning or working in a high-volume multi-task setting. Knowledge of federal regulations for HIPAA and IRB and knowledge of Oncology. Experience working with electronic medical records and Python coding.

Preferred Licenses or Certifications:

Certification as a Clinical Research Associate or Clinical Research Professional (ACRP or SOCRA) preferred.
