The Statistical Analysis of Biomedical and Educational Research (SABER) unit is the data coordinating center for several multi-center clinical trials and observational studies. We are a research center located within the Biostatistics Department at the School of Public Health (SPH) on Michigan's central campus. We are looking for an experienced and dynamic staff member with a commitment to contributing to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for all members of our community. Your role will be to support statistical activities for multiple grants. Your responsibilities will involve working with investigators on the design and analysis of clinical trials and observational studies. You will report to the Manager of Statistics. Responsibilities
With guidance and oversight by senior SABER or faculty biostatisticians:
- Collaborate on study design from a wide variety of clinical trials and observational studies perspectives, including sample size estimation and development of randomization schemes.
- Review statistical considerations sections (including definition of subject population, endpoints, sample size) of study protocols.
- Conduct data analyses in SAS or R, including
Prepare statistical analysis plans, including table shells
Write analysis programs
Validate analysis programs
Respond to team questions regarding analyses
- Prepare reports for
- Submission of abstracts and papers to scientific journals
- For DSMB, FDA, or steering committee review
- Implement methods to ensure the quality of study data, including participation in development of and implementation of standard operating procedures.
Required Qualifications
i. Master’s degree in statistics, biostatistics, public health, epidemiology, computer science, information, or related field.
ii. 1-3 years experience using statistical software for data management and statistical analysis.
iii. Experience analyzing clinical trials or observational studies
iv. Experience with data cleaning and review and implementing database quality assurance standards
v. Excellent oral and written communication skills
vi. Ability to work effectively on teams, and collaborate with SABER statisticians
vii. Able to multi-task and manage competing priorities effectively
viii. An eagerness and aptitude for learning new skills
Desired Qualifications
i. Experience with SAS, including knowledge of data step processing and macro languages
ii. Clinical research experience
iii. An understanding of ICH, GCP and FDA regulations and guidelines regarding the conduct of human subject research
