The EBA is an independent European Union Authority established on 1 January 2011 by Regulation (EU) No. 1093/2010 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 24 November 20102 . EBA’s mission is to contribute to the stability and effectiveness of the European financial system through simple, consistent, transparent, fair regulation and supervision that benefits all EU citizens. EBA’s five strategic objectives are: to finalise and implement an effective and proportionate Single Rulebook, to foster financial stability in an economy transitioning towards sustainability, to enable an integrated reporting system for enhanced assessment and disclosure, to implement the Digital Finances package with DORA oversight and MICA supervision, and to focus on innovation for the benefit of consumers.
As an integral part of the European System of Financial Supervision (ESFS), the EBA works closely together with its sister authorities within the European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs), namely the European Insurance and Occupational Pension Authority (EIOPA), and the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), as well as the Joint Committee and the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB).
Key purpose As a member of the Data Analytics, Reporting and Transparency Department, the Statistician reports to the Head of Statistics Unit. The Statistician will be working on the development and maintenance of the EBA’s databases of regulatory and supervisory data as well as of risk assessment tools and dashboards. In addition, he/she will undertake empirical analyses on the EU financial sector, including stress testing.
The successful candidate will join the Unit at an exciting time, as new mandates conferred to the EBA (such as DORA, MiCA, Initial Margin Model Validation (IMMV) and payment services) require the development and maintenance of new data analytics solutions.
Main responsibilities
- To contribute to the management of EBA’s databases and registers, and to the implementation and testing of end-user ICT solutions;
- To improve the EBA's data input to its risk assessment and dashboards, including the development of visualization tools for internal and external stakeholders;
- To participate in the preparation of reports with statistical analyses using state-of-the-art statistical techniques;
- To coordinate surveys and data collections, developing processes for checking the accuracy, consistency and comparability of the data;
- To support the EBA’s data hub role by designing and maintaining innovative ways of sharing confidential and non-confidential data with the EBA’s stakeholders;
- To contribute to the EBA's other activities, including impact assessment, stress testing, development and maintenance of data analytics tools;
