The UHealth System at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Biostatistician 2 in the Public Health Sciences Department
SUMMARY
The Biostatistician 2 supports research activities under the direction of a principle investigator, program director or designee of the principle investigator or program director.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
- Finalizes analysis plans and writes detailed specifications for analysis of files, consistency checks, tables, and figures.
- Communicates with clients regarding statistical analysis issues.
- Prepares data, conducts statistical analysis, and summarizes results for large research projects.
- Interprets analyses and writes statistical sections of study reports. Prepares results for progress reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.
- Maintains and documents studies’ databases.
- Consults with study investigators on planning and specifying statistical analysis.
- Provides support to resolve barriers to analysis and consults with other methodologists and statisticians.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Master’s degree in relevant field
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:
- Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Proficiency with statistical software packages, particularly SAS and R
- Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

- Develops study design and data analysis plans.
- Analyzes, evaluates and reports on complex observation research data.
- Prepares results for progress reports and presentations.
- Prepares results for peer-reviewed publications and being a co-author on peer-reviewed manuscripts.
- Maintains and documents the studies' databases.
- Presents results of statistical analyses to study investigators.
- Consults with the study investigators on planning and specifying statistical analysis.
- Consults on data collection methods and quality control.
- Provides problem solving support for barriers to analyses and consults with other methodologists anstatisticians.
- Other duties as assigned.
