We are seeking a highly motivated Cancer Data Analyst to join our team. They will assist in managing and operating the Trust's cancer database system (Infoflex). The role involves supporting the development of Power BI dashboards, using SQL to extract and analyse data for both routine and ad-hoc reporting, and identifying opportunities for improvement through internal and external data analysis.

You will assist with the timely and accurate upload of cancer datasets to both the National Cancer Waiting Times and National Audit Databases, ensuring submissions are fully compliant with national reporting requirements. This includes verifying that submitted data accurately reflects the Trust's performance and meets all relevant timescales and data quality standards.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be responsible for daily and weekly data validation, supporting the Patient Tracking List (PTL) process, verifying information against systems, and producing monthly cancer service and trustwide performance statistics. They will also contribute to monitoring service standards in line with national and local targets, undertake project work, perform data quality checks, and support training for staff across cancer services and the wider Trust.

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area or post grade qualification
  • Extensive, advanced experience of Microsoft SQL Server in a complex organisation
  • Strong knowledge of providing reporting insights, preferably through a reporting tool such as Power BI

Desirable

  • Experience and understanding of evaluating and measuring the performance of cancer / health services.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Essential

  • Performance reporting, data analysis, interpretation and report generation
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Products such as Excel, Word etc
  • Intermediate / advanced skills in the use of SQL
  • Experience in the development and maintenance of database and systems
  • Forecasting of Healthcare data
  • Data modelling and benchmarking of health data
