Citizens Advice Manchester is a charity which provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice. We’re a modern, innovative and progressive advice service that employs around 220 people and is one of the largest and most diversely funded Local Citizens Advice within the network. Last year our turnover was in excess of £8m! We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Digital Team.

Our service supports people facing some of life’s most difficult challenges. Every day, our people help individuals and families find a way forward - and high-quality data plays a vital role in making sure we reach the people who need us most, improve our services and demonstrate our impact. We are looking for a Data Architect/Engineer to lead how we collect, manage, analyse and use data across the organisation. This is a rare opportunity to design and build a data function from the ground up in a values-driven charity, where your work will directly support better outcomes for clients.

This is a hands-on, strategic role suited to someone who enjoys working across the full data lifecycle - from systems design and data engineering through to insight, reporting and influencing senior decision-makers. Working closely with the Chief Technology Officer, Leadership Team and Operational Managers, you will ensure our data is accurate, meaningful and used effectively to improve frontline services, strengthen research and campaigns, and meet regulatory requirements. You’ll play a key role in:

  • Shaping how we measure performance and quality
  • Building a central data warehouse and reporting framework
  • Turning complex data into clear, actionable insight
  • Supporting colleagues to feel confident using data in their work

In this role you will lead on strategic data leadership, data warehouse & systems development, data collection, analysis & insight, reporting & visualisation and data quality & governance.

We value all our people and can offer a supportive culture within a charity setting that is committed to social justice. The above role attracts a rewarding remuneration package with excellent terms including:

  • Flexible 37.5 hour working week
  • Modern and comfortable City Centre location with free tea and coffee!
  • Hybrid working (following achievement of competency in the role)
  • Pension, Cycle to Work and Life Assurance Schemes
  • Corporate Health Plan and 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme
  • Generous holiday entitlement of 25 days per year (additional to bank holidays), rising to 30 with long service

Closing Date: Wednesday 23 February 2026

Interviews: Tuesday 10 March 2026
