Applications are sought for the post of Senior Lecturer / Reader in Medical Statistics / Epidemiology, in the Centre for Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging within the William Harvey Research Institute. The post-holder will be expected to make unique contributions to the intellectual life of the Centre/Institute/Faculty and the wider institution, and make significant contributions in research and to student education.

The post is offered at both Senior Lecturer and Reader level, and we would encourage applicants at either stage to apply. The appropriate grading will be determined at recruitment based on the candidate’s experience.

About You

Candidates will have a PhD, or relevant professional qualification, and be able to evidence ongoing research or scholarship activity in development of methods and/or application of medical statistics and/or epidemiology.

About the Department/Institute

The Centre for Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging of the William Harvey Research Institute is a clinical- academic Centre and is closely linked to the Department of Imaging at Barts Heart and Thorax Centre, Barts Health NHS Trust and collaborates closely with clinical academics from University College London. One focus of the Centre is to apply epidemiological and machine learning approaches to large-scale studies that have cardiac imaging available, such as UK Biobank, Study of Health in Pomerania (SHIP) and the Barts BioResource (www.bartsbioresource.org.uk), with the aim to investigate and develop new risk markers to understand (cardiac) diseases.
