About the role
Joining the Leicester Real World Evidence Unit within the Diabetes Research Centre this post provides an excellent opportunity for an ambitious statistician to develop a strong career in epidemiology and cardio-metabolic medicine. You will extract and undertake statistical analysis of cardiometabolic real-world data from classical observational studies and from electronic health records (e.g. UK Biobank, the Clinical Practice Research Datalink, and Hospital Episodes Statistics), evaluate observational studies and undertake independent research using large real-world data sets and provide statistical input and expertise for advanced analysis of longitudinal and survival data, in preparation of scientific papers for publication.
The Leicester Real World Evidence Unit is internationally recognised for its research in diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
With a PhD in a relevant area and postdoctoral research experience you must have excellent knowledge of statistical programming and data management (Stata/R), a high quality publication profile and an advance understanding of survival analysis. An understanding of pharmaco-epidemiology and/or pragmatic trials would be of benefit for this role.
Informal enquiries regarding this opportunity are welcome and should be made to Clare Gillies, Lecturer in Medical Statistics, on firstname.lastname@example.org
