The NEL CCG Insights team and role
The NEL CCG Insights team operates on the basis of a project-based, ‘internal consultancy’ model whose main objective is to generate data-driven, actionable insights to inform NEL CCG’s major strategic programmes and the wider business to support the commissioning of effective care and make best use of available resources within the health system.
We are seeking an experienced senior analyst to work as part of a dynamic and growing team within the CCG. In this role you will support evidenced-based decision making by applying your quantitative research (including statistical analysis and experience in using software such as SQL and R) and analytical skills to understand the needs of our local population, the services they receive and opportunities for the system to make better use of its limited resources.
Using our well linked, rich repository of data, you will develop credible statistical and economic analysis using an evolving range of data analysis tools and techniques. You will explore and visualize data to present the ‘story’ of data in a meaningful and engaging way to a range of technical and non-technical audiences. You will be an excellent communicator, using a range of methods, to ensure the analysis of the team has a real impact and delivers actionable insights.
This is one of three four senior analyst posts within the team whose role will be to support the scoping of projects and manage project workstreams (and junior analysts) as well carry out the data analysis. You will work on a wide range of issues with stakeholders at all levels of NEL CCG as well as external stakeholders (including Trusts, Local Authorities, NHS England etc.).
Examples of the type of work would include:
- carrying out quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify and understand drivers of ill health and local inequalities in health and care provision and outcomes,
- demand and capacity modelling to support elective recovery plans by the system in the wake of Covid pandemic.
- using the NEL patient level linked data set, as well as other sources, to develop innovative analysis and visualisations that support effective decision making within the health and care system.
This is a great opportunity for an analytically minded individual, preferably, with knowledge and experience of working with health data to develop their skills and experience in a multidisciplinary professional environment.
