Salary: £37,300 - £40,248

About the Cabinet Office

Operating at the heart of government, the Cabinet Office is a hugely vibrant and diverse place to work. We support the Prime Minister to ensure government runs effectively, and we’re the corporate headquarters for government in partnership with the Treasury. We take the lead in critical policy areas, and our work is incredibly far reaching. All this gives you the chance to take on vital, stimulating projects while developing an outstanding career in the Civil Service.

About the role

You’ll join our highly skilled Occupational Psychology Service (OPS) and play a key role in running and developing our offering. Working closely with our multi-disciplinary digital team, you’ll help us create innovative psychometric solutions and translate blueprints into workable approaches.

You’ll collaborate with psychometric, digital, data assurance and diversity colleagues to ensure our assessments are sound and meet user needs. Working closely with our clients, you’ll also make sure we’re following best practice and supporting their decision making.

Providing advice to senior colleagues, keeping up to date with psychometric innovation and training other team members are all key responsibilities.

About you

You’ll be well-versed in psychometric methods, statistical theories, measurement principles and test design. With a degree in a numerical discipline, you’ll be experienced in using statistics in test environments, carrying out analysis and designing tests.

You’ll also have strong Excel skills and a high level of ability in data manipulation, large-scale research and workload management.

Creativity, tenacity and communication skills are all essential. You might also have accreditation in BPS Test User Occupational Ability (Level A) and Occupational Personality (Level B).

About working with us

At the Cabinet Office we’re committed to developing our staff in a truly inclusive environment that brings out the best in everyone. You’ll be provided with high quality training, tailored learning and development opportunities and up to five learning days per year. And, as part of the Civil Service, we also offer flexible working options, generous annual leave, a Civil Service pension, staff bonuses and childcare support.
