The Predictive analytics team is looking for highly motivated and passionate data scientists to use machine learning and advanced analytical techniques to create solutions across the UK business. You will be working with a variety of complex datasets to tell an intriguing story about our business and our customers by developing new modelling techniques, visualisation and analytical pipelines. You will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact on business success and by using machine learning, bring the right solutions to the whole organisation.If you are a problem smasher, this is the job for you!

This role is available full-time, as a job-share, or part-time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time

Key Responsibilities:

Use machine learning and analytical techniques to create solutions for business problems

  • Interact with business stakeholders to understand the business problems and opportunities and translate them into analytical solutions
  • Design, develop and assess innovative models to predict performance, claims and improve operations.
  • Mentor and provide direction to junior data scientists in the team.
  • Keep up to date with the latest research papers on machine learning and analytics
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive team culture.

Your skills and experience:

Essential:

  • Two or more years of postdoctoral experience working as a research fellow on the topic of machine learning in a UK university
  • PhD in Statistical research
  • Proficient in R & Python computer languages
  • BSc in Statistics
  • MSc in Statistics
  • Excellent track record of original research
  • Inquisitive mind and willingness to make the difference
  • Good communication skills and ability to generate discussions around data analytics
  • Passion for analysing data and ability to efficiently manipulate datasets

Very Desirable:

  • Teaching experienceExperien
  • ce with Tensorflow, scikit-learn, Keras and SQL
  • Expert knowledge of Bayesian statistics
  • Expert knowledge of time-series analysis

Desirable:

  • Experience with Linux and Github
  • Experience working with economic data
  • Experience working with neural networks
  • Record of publications in peer-reviewed statistics journals
  • Experience presenting research at international conferences

Helpful:

  • Member of a statistical society
